Chant of the Gandhi Buri

Frail she might look

But her words never shook

She was the Gandhi buri

India’s daughter named, Matangini

Daughter of a poor man

12 was her age, when her journey began

valour was in her heart

She kept all discourage apart

She Gave away everything to get back all

Till this day, every people recall

Her martyrdom for our country is great

This land still remember it till this date

It was the time of August Movement

Smell of freedom was fluent

Fight of freedom was in its height

We could see the optimistic light

People in Tamluk planned to protest

Now there was no time to rest

“Go back, go back lat sahib

Abandon your rulership”

Shouted people before the police station

“We want our own nation”

Came in front the old lady

Named Matangini

Violence grew here and there

But she was not scared, beware

She stepped before them

The cruel had nothing to condemn

They shot her in the forehead

But she didn’t stopped walking ahead

“Vande Mataram” she would chant

Till her last breath, she held the flag

Still the flag touches the sky

See, you will see it in the high

The chanting will echo in your heart forever

Let’s honour her together!
